WAP your lifestyle and stop smoking and get fit for life
Wednesday, 27 January 2010
Make 2010 the year you stop smoking for good with the help of Corby Borough Council’s Stop Smoking sessions held every second Saturday from 30th January until 24th April at Mr Pickford’s Chemist, Spencer Court.

From 10am to 12pm, residents can receive FREE nicotine replacement therapy and prescriptions which will be monitored closely on a week by week basis to help them fight their cigarette habit.

The sessions are part of Corby Borough Council’s very successful health improvement programme, SWAP Your Lifestyle, which focuses on Stop smoking, Weight management, Active lifestyles and Practical cooking. In 2009, SWAP provided 30 stop smoking classes and drop-in clinics which helped over 400 people complete the government “4 week quit” target.

Thursday, 08 October 2009
Ukuele GroupThe sound of sweet music is soon to be heard from miles around Corby as residents get ready to take part in the biggest mass Ukulele assemble the county has ever seen.

What started as a simple arts project for Corby Borough Council has turned in to a local phenomenon as a total of 683 residents have already made their very own instrument from recycled margarine tubs at different Ukulele making sessions held throughout the Borough since May.

Corby Borough Council has helped residents of all ages produce their Utterly Butterly Ukulele and is now aiming to make a total of 1,000 in time for the mass performance on Saturday 31st October, which is being held right in the middle of Willow Place, Corby Town Centre. As well as the performance there will also be rides and art activities for youngsters to enjoy and as the event is being held on Halloween, a fancy dress competition will held with a prize of £50 shopping vouchers to be won.
